The aim of the strategy is to link the three pillars of sustainability – environmental, social, economic – to consumption. It focuses on what the state can do in collaboration with municipalities, businesses, and civil society to make it easier for citizens to act and consume sustainably. The strategy has identified seven focus areas: increasing knowledge and deepening cooperation; encouraging sustainable ways of consuming; streamlining resource use; improving the information on companies’ sustainability efforts; phasing out harmful chemicals; improving security for all consumers; and focusing on food, transport, and housing.
